Worked on fitting the windscreen...

Finished prepping the windscreen and bonded it into place.  More prep on the doors...

December 4th

Cleaned up around windscreen, sanded edges and laid up a layer of BID, to insure it's integrity, then peel plied.  Installed seat harnesses and top of the tunnel.  Installed instrument panel and began hooking up the wiring.  Powered up the system.  So far, so good...

December 5th

Worked with the wiring in the panel and installed some of the placards.  Covered the center of the tunnel with carpet, cut the access cover to the fuel selector and installed placard.  Sanded BID around the windscreen and applied filler.  Fabricated the battery tray...

December 7th

Installed more placards, trimmed the battery tray and sanded on the windshield filler and refilled...

December 9th

Finished all carpet in the cockpit.  Except for the seats and finishing the panel, this pretty much finishes up the interior.  Sanded the windscreen edges.  It still needs a couple of spots touched up...

December 10th

Designed, fabricated and painted two high strength, aluminum risers, which will take the shoulder harness up above shoulder level.  Got an engineer friend, testing the prototype to ensure that the rig will be strong enough for the task...

December 12th

Finished fabricating, painted and installed shoulder harness risers.  Sanded and filled on doors.  Filled various spots on the fuselage and avionics panel.  Scuff sanded and bonded the battery tray to the starboard footwell...

December 17th

Removed mask and re-masked windscreen and began sanding edges.  Sanded vertical fin and checked for more movement in the fiberglass.  It will need a bit more filling...

December 19th

More sanding on the vertical fin and filling imperfections where the fiberglass has moved during curing.  Finished the initial sanding on the edges of the windscreen and doors...

December 22nd

Finished sanding and primed the avionics panel, doors and windscreen area, then sanded around windscreen.  Sanded filler on fin and primed, then sanded entire empennage.  The fin and windscreen area will require one more coat of primer, then I can sand the entire fuselage and bring it to the paint shop...

December 27th

Finished sanding the doors.  They lack only retaping the screen and feathering the primer.  Mounted the wings to the fuselage and aimed the landing/taxi lights.  I can now install the clear wingtips...

December 28th

Retaped the door screens and feather edged the primer.  The doors, handles and one of the inspection covers are at the painters.  More sanding on the fuselage...

December 29th

Sanded entire fuselage.  Primed various parts of wings and fuselage.  Filled a couple of spots on fuselage that needed touching up.

December 30th

Did a little sanding on the fuselage, to smooth out a few spots, then primed the entire thing.  Once the primer cured, I did the finish sanding on everything behind the doors.  Slick as a baby's butt...

December 31st

Finished sanding the entire fuselage, including underneath and the door flanges.  Feathered in around the windscreen.  Sanded the rudder.  Mixed a little primer in a cup and walked around the fuselage with a small brush and touched up any pin holes and scratches I could find.  This baby is finally ready for the paint shop...
