November 1st

Sanded starboard wing top and refilled.  Did final sanding on port wing.  It's now ready for clear tips and primer...

Assembled brake torque plates to calipers and installed system on starboard main gear, then drilled axel and inserted cotter pin...

November 10th

Installed torque plates and calipers on port main gear, then drilled axel and inserted cotter pin.  Built up linear flap actuator and fitted it to the flap control arm.

November 11th

Began work on starboard brake plumbing, running the nylon tubing inside of ridged tubing, for protection, until the strut fairings are installed...

November 12th

Finished plumbing the brake system, including the mounting of the fluid reservoir, on the firewall.  Began filling the system, however the small, electric pump I'm using to push the fluid is not performing as I'd hoped.  I'll replace it with another that will do a better job of pushing fluid through the system, as soon as possible...

November 13th

Spent way too much time getting the brake system filled and bubble free.  Couldn't find a pressure pump with enough pressure to do the job and a vacuum pump wouldn't draw the fluid through.  Eventually got it done, with the help of my son and 30 psi, direct air pressure into the fluid reservoir.  N55XS now has a functioning set of brakes......

November 14th

Finished installing plate nuts in instrument panel and baggage bay "D" panel.  Wired flap actuator into main harness...

Mounted wings and flaps to fuselage and set flaps to proper retracted position, then bonded in the linear actuator and left it to cure...

Finished install of flap actuator and checked range.  Everything is within limits.  Sanded top seam of starboard wing...

Bonded ELT ground plane/antenna in place in rear of fuselage.  More wiring on the panel...

Cleaned up in aft fuselage in preparation for bonding the baggage bay.  More wiring on the panel...

November 20th

Bonded baggage bay in position and glassed all front edges where the bulkhead met the fuselage.  More wiring and panel work...

November 21st

Finished glassing in the baggage bay and cut floor cover for landing gear area.  Worked on the panel some more, tying breakers to their busses and then to the main switch.  Worked on getting the strobes and trim switches working.  They're done.  Did a little fill touchup on the fuselage, where I shortened the hole where the flap actuator rod penetrates and on the starboard wing and port door.  Began building up the mold for the fuel inlet cover...

November 22nd

Finished building the mold for the fuel inlet tube cover and laid up BID for same.  Finished tying down all the wiring in the rear of the baggage bay and ran the coax for the com and transponder antenna, to the front...

November 23rd

Trimmed the inlet tube cover and bonded in a hard point where the fire extinguisher will be fastened.  More wiring in the panel.  As far as I know, the com and intercom wiring is done.  Will begin testing it, tomorrow...

November 24th

Installed plate nuts behind inlet tube cover to accommodate the fire extinguisher bracket and tacked the cover in place.  Temporarily hooked the radio and intercom to the battery and checked both systems.  Everything worked, including the most important item:  My wife's CD player... :)  Primed and painted the lower panel face and installed ignition switch, main switch, mag switches and circuit breakers...

November 25th

Glassed in inlet tube cover and applied peel ply.  Applied BID to both sides of the landing gear socket cover.  Filled and sanded panel, in preparation for priming...

November 26th

Installed plate nut in top of tunnel to hold down gear mount access cover.  Sanded and primed the baggage bay bulkhead "D" panel and instrument panel.  With a light sanding, they are ready for paint.  Cleaned up the glass around the fuel inlet cover and covered it with carpet.  Also covered the gear cover, baggage bay floor, rear bulkhead and hatch covers with carpet. Filled the indentions in the fuselage sides, in preparation for carpet...

Finished baggage bay interior and brought carpet over the seatbacks, into the forward cockpit area.  Carpet is almost finished.  Installed fire extinguisher...

Sanded the instrument panel and "D" panel from the baggage bay and brought them to the paint shop.  Worked of the doors, touching up a few things...
